IVF Insurance

I just spoke to the Insurance Company I have....

Can you believe that they said my IVF insurance is already up to $18,000.  Are you kidding me?  This is my first one ever.  The drugs were $6,000 alone & I did have a polyp removed first but still.  This is ridiculous.  How in the world does anyone pay for this out of pocket?
Something needs to be done........

Yeah, we had to pay out of pocket :-( Luckily our RE offered special rates for couples whose insurance does not cover IVF, and they also chose the drugs based on what incentives the online pharmacies offered...so we ended up "only" paying about $10,000 (including meds).

oh wow thats crazy ,

im assuming your from USA or England right?

i dont know how things work over there exactly but im pretty sure you guys have it wayy more expensive than us.

With us over here (Australia), IVF ICSI is like $5000 up front but then we have a medicare safety net which rebates like 80% - 85%  and maybe like $100 - $150 meds , im not entirely sure about the meds but either way its alot better.

I feel so sorry for all the couples over there with those prices.

Geez Kricket i really do hope something is done for all of you ..
