OMG I LOVE YOU Meggs!! I just found out today that my insurance only covers artifical insem...however, my husband has a "ZERO" sperm count...so that won't quite work. I've been FREAKING OUT trying to figure out how we could possibly afford IVF or IUI (when we get there...still in the beginning stages).
I'm starting the IVF process right now. I know the cost is a complete shock! I agree that you should first check your health insurance. Mine covered the meds, but nothing else. We then took out a flexible spending account through our jobs so money was taken out each month pre-taxes. (We took out $5000 for the year.) This helped defray the cost over the year. Also, I know capital one bank has infertility loans with special finance rates. You may want to check that out. IAlso, check your clinic...it may have information with different borrowing options. Hope this helps!
Hey, I maybe doing IVF in a few months. We have been looking into getting a private loan from our bank to pay for it. GL :)
First, check what your health coverage will cover and what your out of pocket expenditures would be. Health insurers differ widely from complete coverage to no coverage at all (which is what we have).
Good luck!
