HAVE YOU EVER HAD A BLOOD HORMONE TEST DONE?

I am going to the doctor tomm for a blood test to have my hormones checked and make sure I do not have a imbalance. I wanted to get checked for this a while back but I was told that my doctor's office did not perform those tests at least that is what the doctor said that I seen that day. My doctor now said that they can do one and we can go through some things. I have never had one done before what can it show? After I had my son I went through a bad time with either depression or my hormones went crazy but it was bad for a long time.
I did some reading on the internet and there is a hormone test that you can do by checking what symptoms you have.
Like for me I have heavy flow on my periods,Anxiety, Insomia some nights, I started having hot flashes at night now. DH and I have been TTC # 2 for 6 months now no luck.
There is just so many things. Let me know if you have had a test done or if you have any info Thanks

you mentioned depression, so in adition to what Tina mentioned(which is pretty much what my doctor tested) ask for your thyroid panel test(TSH, T3 and T4). Hypothyroidism can cause heavy menstrual bleeding and insomnia as well.

Normally, the 1st labs they do is a cycle day 3 panel. It always checks Lh and FSH. Many times it will also include E2, prolactin, testosterone and progesterone. This is generally the starting point. Depending on what is found, if anything, other tests may be run from there.
