Low Beta 3 weeks after IVF Egg Retrieval

I had my Egg Retrieval on 2.9.10 and then they transfered 2 embryos back on 2.11.10.  I had my first beta on 2.24.10 and it came back as 96.  Second beta on 2.26.10 and it had dropped to 86.  RE told us to continue meds and come back on Monday, 3.1.10 to test one more time, although he as not optimistic.  Went back this morning and my beta is now 168?!?  It's doubled from Friday.  RE thinks there is a chance that I implanted late and am now just starting to go up.  We are continuing med (progesterone shots, estrogen patches, baby aspirin and prenatal vitamin) and testing again on Thursday.  He says if we don't have a significant increase (around 500) then we will discontinue everything.

I am so happy and excited, but also cautious b/c 168 is low for 3 weeks after the retrieval and I'm so worried that it will still end badly.  The longer this is drawn out, the worse it gets to stand!

Has anyone ever been in this situation???  I just need one person to give me hope!

WE SAW A HEARTBEAT!!!!!

Oh my gosh, I am in shock...this is what heaven feels like!  We were all crying, even the nurse!

The baby is measuring 6 weeks, 6 days at this point and I am 8 weeks so it's still a week behind, but we've been a week behind since the very beginning.  We finally saw our doctor smile and actually say, "this is great!"  I think he's still thoroughly confused and says we're now part of his next case study, hah!  The heart beat was only 87, which RE wanted it to be 110 but it was steady which he said was really good.  We go back in another week and we really want to see a good week's worth of growth and a stronger heartbeat.  I told the baby that it can't give up on me now b/c it's a real little human to me now!!!  I don't think I could stand to lose it after the amount of much emotional drama we've had so far!!

I feel so blessed and know it's because of each and everyone of your prayers.  Thank you so much for the continued support.  I can't wait to hear each of your stories as we all achieve our goal of being parents.

God Bless,
Sara

Hi Melissa,
Thanks...  started bleeding a lot last night and also had lower abd pain.  Went to office this morning, MD told me during UTZ that he see the sac but it remained the same size from the one 3-days ago and my bleeding was heavier than what to be expected.  He further mentioned that if my hormone levels are going up it might still be a go for this pregnancy... so i am hoping and praying that it is so...  well keep you posted once i hear from the nurse in the office.

CONGRATULATIONS : )   Yippeee!!!!

Try and relax.... your u/s is tomorrow, that will tell alot.  I have heard alot of people on here having spotting and everything is just fine.  I had a m/c last Aug. so I understand your anxiety.  If you feel really uncertain, you could always go to the ER.

Please let us know how tomorrow goes!
Super Sticky Babies to you!!!

I just found this site this morning, thank you so much with all your comments... that really helps a lot, to know that there's a lot of people in same situation i'm in.

We had our 6th IVF last 2 with an donor, had the retrieval on 2/27/10 and transfer with 2-blast on 3/4/10.  We had our ever 1st positive pregnancy test on 3/13/10, which to us had just been a miracle which I've been claiming in prayer.

I was so scared and nervous last night when i had spotting, but my nurse assured me this morning that i have nothing to worry about, so far my last Hcg last 3/22/10 was 3,815.  And i will have a rpt bld work & 2nd Utz tomorrow.  Can't wait to know the outcome of both.
