Moderate OHSS - anyone have it? Got fluid in my abdomen - on bedrest...

I am a tad bit freaked out. Called RE yesterday and told her I looked about 5 months preggo and she had me come in. Doc said my lungs look good (main concern with OHSS) and blood was good. I have a good sized pocket of fluid in my abdomen but he is going to watch it and put me on bedrest. Anyone have this? I guess a lot of those follicles erupted and spilled the fluid into my abs. It was the creepiest thing to see a big black mass in my abdomen on the u/s so i am just going to lay around and pray it gets better. Any help would be appreciated...

I got OHSS before I ovulate and got cancel my cycle because with the trigger shot (contain HCG, pg hommore) it makes even worse.  So, OHSS does not indicate the ovulation.
In your case, I believe you ovulated before OHSS.  With IUI, having alot follicles like 10 + high E2, it easy lead to OHSS like the other post I mention earlier....a few of them got bigger and bigger, but not rupture.
OHSS can be resolve itself in couple weeks.....unless you're short of breath.  I wish you feel better each day.  Best wish.

My bedrest is pretty much laying in bed. I will get up to change the laundry out of the washer or dryer and make a quick meal. Then back to bed. I had to get my daughter off to school this morning, so I was up for a bit with that. I am sitting up and on my laptop but going to take naps too :)

Now, I am going to ask the (probably) stupidest question i have ever asked...bear with me.

Since I have OHSS - this means I definately ovulated right? I did IUI and had a lot of follies on my right side and a few on my left (my right tube is clogged up). Does this mean most of them popped open, since I have so much fluid in my abdomen? Sorry for being such an idiot :) hee hee

Alright ladies, seriously wanting to know - when you say "bed rest" does that mean you only get up to go to the bathroom? I honestly am curious if any of you are/have get up to prepare a quick meal or anything else. When you are in bed rest, do you sit up for a while in bed or maintain yourself in a sleeping position? I know I'm sounding compulsive about this but if I do end up having my scheduled ER/ET, I want to make sure I do what's best :)

scienceteacher79: best of luck on your US; if you do have a case of hyperstimulation, make sure you are eating foods with lots of protein, even protein bars as yucky as they may taste could really help. I know my nurse has mentioned that not only during ER/ET should I be eating foods high in protein, but also if I become pregnant (nausea/water retention can tend to decrease) Hope this helps and of course as Keyan mentioned bed rest is essential :) Best wishes!

Hi, After my retrieval I had a very very mild case of OHSS.  I was told to stay on bedrest and stay hydrated.  I had my transfer the following day and I am now 15 weeks pregnant, so it certainly does not affect implantation.  I did feel a lot of discomfort atleast for a couple of weeks
