Need advice on injectables

Well I just completed my last round of 50mg clomid with IUI.  If it didn't work this time I graduate onto injectables which I have to say seem very scary to me.  The whole "hyperstimulation" issue and the very real (more real than on clomid) chance of multiples is freaking me out.  I'm questioning what I should do and would love to hear from anyone who has experience that may calm my nerves on this next possible step.  Of course I have a week to go before I know for sure...but I don't feel ANYTHING that makes me think it worked this time around.  I'm used to being disappointed and having to "take the next step"...but i am working really hard on staying hopeful!

I responded well to the clomid also although I only had 3-4 follices each time.  My doctor is recommending follistim and Ive been doing my research and am concerned about it.  What do you mean he "nudged a few follicles"?  How do they do that???

PS - congrats...its good to hear a similar story with such a happy ending!

I tried clomid + IUI three times with no luck, so my doctor recommended injectibles (Follistim).  It was very expensive, and I was worried about hyperstimulating because I reacted pretty strongly to 50 mg of clomid (6-8 mature follies each month!), but went ahead and went for it.

The actual injections were a breeze, and I didn't really have any side effects other than some ovary tenderness and bloating.  I didn't truely hyperstimulate, but I did have TONS of follicles that nearly resulted in them cancelling my cycle.  The doc just nudged a few follies into maturity, and I got pregnant!  I'm just having one baby, so ... I'm pretty happy with my results!

I tried clomid unsuccessfully, then tried injectibles.  I did one cycle.  I think I had 4 mature follicles, but it didn't work for me, and it was very expensive.  As far as the process, it was very easy.  They weren't painful at all.  But after that cycle, we decided to try femara (another pill similar to clomid).  It was much less expensive.  It worked for us on the second cycle, along with IUI.  So if cost is an issue for you, you may want to consider giving the femara a try.  It also has less risk of multiples than the injectibles.
