OHSS??

I will start with my history ~ I've been TTC for a few years now with Metformin, I have PCOS. I had a M/C almost 2 years ago, and haven't gotten pregnant since. Had an HSG and everything was clear. DH had S/A and it was 183 million.
Well for the past 4 months I have been on clomid 50mg..I was never monitored with that.
Well with this cycle they upped my dose to 100mg, I wasn't scheduled for an U/S until CD 13 (today) The U/S ladies seemed pretty upset because my Dr didn't schedule me sooner. As for the U/S she said that it is hard for her to tell if I am over stimulated because she didn't get to watch the whole process. She said that my ovaries are enlarged (then I told her that I have PCOS and she said that might be what she is seeing), she also said that the follies are alot bigger than they should be on CD 13. She didn't give me the measurements, or exactly how many there are, but I saw 4, she said that 3 of them are oblong and the other one is a complete circle like they want to see. She said that she would have to get with the Dr tomorrow and see what she thinks. She also told me not to BD until I get orders from my Dr. Why don't they want you to BD with OHSS???? I read a few things on the web, but it started scaring me so I quit. Will I be out this cycle??? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your responses. I am currently waiting on the Dr to call to see if that is what I have. Because the U/S woman wasn't sure due to the fact that she didn't get to see my ovaries before all this.. Thank you  ladies again.

I had OHSS and it's VERY painful.  I had to find out the hard way.  I had to be rushed to the hospital after DH and I did our thang and needless to say I was soo embarrass to tell the medic what happened.  I was in soo much pain I couldn't even dress myself or walk.  They had to come into our bedroom with a stretcher to move me.  When I got to the ER they told me that there biggest concerns with OHSS is that the fluid from the ovaries could leak and cause flooding of the lungs and soo on!

I am realy concerned that your DR didn't monitor you on a regular with being on the meds especially after uping your dosage...that strange!  If I were you (as soon as you get the chance) I would have alot of questions for my DR and I wouldn't leave until I fully understand ...WHY!  I say this because OHSS I wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy.  It felt like a big gass bubble that wont go away but wants to come out but painfull.  I could hardly breathe because of the pressure to my lungs.  I'm not trying to frighten you but take from someone who has experienced it.  Hopefully that will answer some of your questions.  By the way my ovaries were the size of golf balls. because of it...UGH!

If you get pregnant with OHSS you will be in a lot of pain.  That's why some clinics cancel cycles.  However, OHSS does not affect probability of you getting pregnant.

With OHSS you would feel a lot of discomfort, like ovarian pain.  If you do not have that you are probably OK.  The way they measure possibility of OHSS in my clinic is by looking at E2 levels, not the size of the ovaries.

Whether to bd or skip this cycle is up to you.  Make sure you get all the facts about your E2 levels and number of follies from your clinic.

Good luck!!
