Pregnant but nothing found on ultrasound

I am 7 weeks pregnant and went in for my first ultrasound yesterday.  Sorry if this is all over the place.  My RE was unable to find, as he said, a viable pregnancy.  My numbers have been on the lower side the entire time.  My first 2 betas more than doubled.  My 3rd through 7 betas doubled around every 72 hours which i read is normal.  My last set of betas were 6 days apart and were 1238 and 2500 something.  I had my last beta yesterday after the ultrasound.  What i am wondering is why there wouldn't be anything?  I couldn't see the ultrasound screen but my DH did.  He saw what looked like a blotch.  I think i had late implantation.  Could that have something to do with anything???  I have read stories where they couldn't find anything and then later did.  Do i have any hope???  They want me to get another beta today to see if my numbers are rising.  Thanks for any input.

I recently experience a d&c due to a blighted ovum at 9 weeks. I have been all over the net to find recent ladies who have experiences this that I can fellowship with. It's really weird still and hard to accept.

I would just face it head on and get to doing the baby dance as soon as you are mentally ready.

Like you I was going to wait and make sure the baby wasn't there, but my HCG levels were at 23,000 so I was just in denial and opted for the d&c so I could move on and start trying again. Keep us posted!

hudsy - Thanks and I am sooo sorry to hear about your loss :(  DH and I are exactly the same as you mentioned.  We have just been thru so much together thru the whole TTC process and its good to know he is there for me.  They too go thru this roller coaster.  Good Luck to you - I hope we get our BFP's again soon and we make it to having little bundles of joy!

gr8nurse - It ended up being ectopic :(

In response to your question,

It could be an ectopic pregnancy, or the pregnancy could be earlier than thought. You should be able to visualize at least a gestational sac with a beta of 1500.  Ectopics HCG usually rises normally initially, but then slows or stops indicating a problem.
I know I am responding a week later, How did everything turn out?

I went through the same thing this month, I was 11w4d and when we couldn't hear the heartbeat on the doppler went for our ultrasound to find no heartbeat, just our baby floating there lifeless, that picture is still stuck in my head. I can't imagine have to go through that twice and I'm so sorry, what an insane rollercoast of emotions you have been on this year. I'm so glad you and your DH are so strong, our mc and brought us to the deepest level of love I think a couple can have. It's such a great gift to have someone right there with you who is just as sad as you are but comforting you. My good friend miscarried and was single and it was so insanely lonely and hard for her. I pray that this is the last time you have to go through this and I wish you many miracles ahead!

Thanks for your repsonse.  I know i am a bit all over the place.  I just don't understand how there can be nothing.  It's good to hear about your friend.  Thank goodness she didn't have the D&C.

Jennifer,

I'm sorry, I'm not sure about your questions but I just wanted to say I'm praying for you.

I do know someone personally that her doctor told her there was no baby, and she chose not to do a DandC and miscarry naturally.  Thank God, because she gave birth to that baby 9 months later....

Don't lose hope....
