Prometrium

My ob/gyn has put me on Prometrium to help regulate my menstrual cycle.   My husband and I are trying to concieve our second child.  With my first child I was put on prometrium for the first trimester due to low progesterone levels.  This month I thought there was a chance I was pregnant and he told me instead of taking it days 16-25 I should remain on it until I know for sure if I am pregnant.  I still have not gotten my period, and I am 3 days late.  I have been experiencing the "normal" cramping associated with early pregnancy, but have taken a HPT and it is negative.  Can prometrium delay me from getting my period?  I am afraid to stop taking it just in case I am in fact pregnant.  Any help/information would be GREATLY appreciated!

my first round on Prometrium AF was a few days late and the day after I called my dr's office - she came so no questions there...  The next cycle AF was on time - and the third - was a success and I took it through my first trimester - now I'm getting close to the third.  It was a horrible waiting game b/c the side effects of prometrium were just about the same as early pregnancy and PMS!  Good luck.

I agree with bny. The best thing would probably be to get a blood test. Good luck!

IT sure can delay you getting your period, and unfortunately mimic pregnancy symptoms! i just started it this month and have had cramping (can't test till later this week) I'd ask your doctor for a beta (blood test) if you want to make sure before stopping!! good luck and I hope you are preg! : )
