Follistim questions

For those of you that have used Follistim....Please forgive me for asking silly questions, but this is my first cycle on the injectables.  I have the pen and have been using the 900 cartidge for 7 days.  I was on 100 for three days and 150 for three days.  Now my RE has put me on 200 for tonight.  I injected the pen today, and it said I still had some left!  (so that would be I used 950)  Does anyone know how much extra is in the vial?

Also, I only have two follicles on my left side (my right tube is blocked) at 12mm and 11mm. (I have about 5-6 smaller follicles)  Is this a normal number?  I know it's supposed to measure between 18-20mm, but the doctor sounded disappointed that I only had two that were that size so I was curious how many were normal.

I think the numbers of follies depend on the doses, which depend on whether you are doing IUI or IVF. I am just starting my first cycle on follistim, 75 cd5-9, with an ultrasound cd10 to see how many follies ther are.  My doctor says she would like to see at least 2 or 3 follies that are mature and that will release after I take my Ovidril trigger shot.

For more official info, here is what I found at http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/iui.html:

Q: How many follicles give my best chance of getting pregnant?

A: According to different studies, either 3-4 follicles gives one the best chance of getting pregnant, while more follicles beyond that simply increases the risk of multiples. The U.S. study said 4 follicles, while other countries have data stating 3. The U.S. has a higher rate of multiple births, so 3 may be more likely to be the correct answer.

My nurse told me that it never adds up in those tubes.  I've actually used a 900 cartlidge, and after the 900 was up I had another shot of 150.  I'm 43 and I did 2 rounds of retrievals.  The first round I got 1, and second I got 3.  I m/c at 5-6 weeks, and I'm doing another round of IVF.  Now my doctor has the meds down and I have 4 good eggs.  You want them to be between 20-30mm.  Good Luck, and if you have anymore questions...........I'm around
