Follistim is an FSH medication, that is injected daily (usually in the abdomen). It helps to stimulate your ovaries, so you can produce multiple follicles (which develop into eggs). The more follicles you produce, the better your chances are of ovulating more than one. They monitor you closely through bloodwork and vaginal ultrasound to see the growth and make sure your ovaries aren't overstimulated. I am doing a very low dose of Follistim to do an IUI (interuterine insemination) Basically, that put the sperm where they need to be at the right time for you!
Please let me know if I can be of any help. I was in your shoes about a year ago too! -- now I feel like I can help others :)
What's follistim? Sorry very new to this? We've been trying to concieve for a year and are now scratching the surface with fertility!
Yes, I agree with all of you.... yesterday I had a breakdown, and I realized why... I told my husband, "I think it's the hormones sweetie." So we moved on from that. Thanks for the advice ladies. I have a couple more days to go of the 75 IU's, and then they are going to do a check to see if they need to increase or keep the same. Hoping for lots and lots of GROWTH!!!
I think what you are experiencing is normal and you shouldn't worry. The only side effect I can remember having was the longer I took it I was very emotional. Not flying off the deep end or anything, I was just very weepy and would feel like crying alot.
I loved the follistim pen-so easy to use!
Good luck to you
I've done 5 cycles total using Follistim, and never noticed any side effects.
I think it's fine. I didn't really have any side effects, other than moodiness but that could've just been stress
