Starting Follistim in about three weeks...can anyone give me some success stories?

Hi all, for all of you that do not know my story, DH and I have been trying to conceive for 12 months now with no luck.  Three months of Clomid, Trigger and one IUI, two with just timed intercourse.  I took last cycle off and this one also....and getting ready to start injectables next month.  My RE is going to put me on Follistim.  What do you think my chances are?  I have three children, my youngest is almost six, so it hasn't been TOO long since I was pregnant.  I have unexplained fertility, have had the HSG, hubby had SA, I have had bloodwork....so we are just taking the appropriate steps and the next one is injectables.  Can anyone give me any hope that this could work for us?  I have a regular 28 day cycle, I O on cd 13-14....just have no idea why it isn't happeneing..

Thanks for any input in advance!

Heather

it was only our first month on very low dose follistim (100iu first night then75iu two nights after that -every other day) i only have one ovary so i only produced 3 mature follies but it did work! not sure why they did femara + follistim, i've seen both ways on here.   The injections are super easy to give and do, and don't hurt at all ( i think the trigger - novarel makes me bum a little sore!) but i gave the follistim in my belly and the needle is sooo small you really don't feel it!    GOOD LUCK ! i hope to see your BFP very soon! : )

4Angie-  That is encouraging!  I am 32, I haven't had my FSH levels checked....that is I think the only thing he didn't check.  I have always wondered if that was the issue.  Good to know that if it is, and that was your issue, it worked for you!  Was the injection hard to give?  Did it hurt?  I go next Wednesday to learn how to do it.  Hopefully I will get pregnant on my own this month, but not banking on it.  Congratulations to you!  I hope I can follow in your footsteps!

Kramik-  I hope hope hope you get your BFP this month.  I can't wait to hear.

Thank God I have insurance that cover the meds.  Not the procedures, but the meds!  I will take what I can get!

I used clomid for 5 months -- got pregnant in February and m/c a couple days later after the postive blood work.  Last month I did my 5th round of clomid with IUI and it did not work.  This month I did follistim and ovidrel -- I had 3-5 follies that were huge -- my IUI was just on Tuesday so I now enter my 2WW -- hopefully I can come back on here the first week of July and have a BFP result for you.

Good luck.

4angie -- congrats! I hope I am right behind you and will be a success story just like you on the follistim and ovidrel.

I used clomid for 3 months and it did not work.  The 4th month, I used follistim and ovidrel.  I got pregnant and am 7 weeks 2 days.  :)  Follistim made my follies grow bigger!  I am close to 40, still have periods, have a cycle every 27 days like clockwork and have a daughter that is close to 6.  Sounds like that is about the same as you.  Our issue was my FSH level.  :)  Good luck.  Follistim is great and you really will not have many s/e.  It is just expensive.

Thank you so much!  I don't think we will be using Clomid or femara with it.  I am going to meet with them next wednesday to learn how to do the injections.  Do you think I should be using Clomid with it?  What does that do?  Thank you so much for your advice!!!  Your the best.  You're always here for everyone.  How long did it take to work for you?  One month?  I know they are planning on doing the trigger....Thanks!

follistim + femara, trigger (novarel) and IUI worked for us! after i think 19 months or so of TTC... we have pretty bad male factor, severe endo, pcos and one ovary, so we have just a few things going against us! the follistim is really really easy to use ( i did the shot in my stomach) the needle is soooo small that you really can't feel it.. i did get some headaches, but thats the only side effects i had.. the fact that you've been pregnant and carried to term is a great sign! i'm sure it will happen very soon! Your in my prayers! are yall going to use femara or clomid with the follistim?? GOOD ULCK! : )
