TTC WITH PCOS-MISSED NOV. CYCLE

Hello, my husband and I have been trying to conceive since we've gotten married 8 yrs ago. I was diagnosed with pcos (polycystic ovarian syndrome) in 2006. I'm not overweight, and my cycles come every month but not consistently. Well, this entire month of Nov., I have not gotten my period. I thought I might finally be pregnant so I went to my dr. and the test was negative. How can this be?? I get my period every month,  finally miss a cycle, and it's negative? It's now the end of Nov. and my period still has not shown. I'm so hurt and frustrated. I just want to be a mommy so badly. My dr said that if I don't get my period by mid Dec., she will start me on Letrozole. I really wanted to try metformin, but she insists on trying this Letrozole medication. Do you think there's any hope for me after this amount of time?  I really feel like giving up, and don't think I can handle another negative test. Any Letrozole success stories?  I could really use some support, I almost broke down in the dr.'s office. Thanks

Hello, thank you so much! I'm so sorry for your losses, I can only imagine how difficult a time that must've been for you. I'm so happy your baby dreams cane true in spite of all the hardships you've faced! Thank you for giving me hope. It's so nice to know there are other women out there with the same obstacle as me who are overcoming it and having happy, healthy babies. =)

I am not over weight at all, but I could exercise more than I already am. I've used Comid a few times about 7 yrs ago, and it overstimulated my ovaries so I had to stop. My Dr. said she said like to start me on Letrozole in the middle of this month if my cycle doesn't start before then. Do you know of any women with my condition who became pregnant on this medication? I also take multivitamins and changed my diet, and juice fresh fruits and veggies when I can. I don't know what happened, because for the past few years I have gotten a period every month,  and last month it disappeared all together. Has the blood tests ever been wrong? Thank you for your time and advice.

Hello,
PCOD occurs due to imbalances in the hormonal system which makes ovulation irregular and causing other changes in the body. Drug like Clomiphene is used as first line drug for treatment of PCOS related infertility. It has been observed that approximately 60-70 percent ovulate after taking Clomiphene.
Along with Clomiphene lifestyle modifications like weight control, exercise are very important to improve the success rates of Clomiphene.Tamoxifen and gonadotropins are other drugs which can help women with PCOS to get pregnant. The pregnancy rate is about 15 per cent in patients with PCOD taking Clomiphene, but success depends on the length of treatment and other factors. It varies woman to woman. You should start taking folic acid, exercise daily and reach your optimal weight. Take a healthy diet. Discuss your concerns with your attending doctor. I hope it helps. Do keep me posted.
Best luck and regards
