If chances of trisomies are so high for you, with ivf they can do a genetic testing BEFORE the transfer. That way you can avoid a miscarriage due to a trisomy.
Best of luck with whatever option you decide to pursue.
I like 40smama, used eggs from a 21 year old. They transfered only 2 (at the time I was upset that they didn't transfer 3) both implanted, but only 1 developed a heart beat. I did not want twins, so I was soooooo relieved. With IVF, you have control over the quality and number of embryo's. Good luck.
Depending on the quality of the embryos, you can have the option of deciding how many to transfer. Most re's want to avoid multiple births also. Usually, however, more embryos are transferred w/women of your age as to increase your chances of having at least one implanting. In my situation, we transferred one embryo but it came from an egg of a 22 year old so it was of very high quality. although I would've liked twins, my dh didn't so that's why we went that route. I think your re's right in that you would have control over the quality of the embryo versus conceiving the 'natural' way. Good luck to you & ssbd!
