Thank you so much for your reply!
I do have three children...11, almost 10 and almost 6. I had NO problem's conceiving them...they were not planned (but not regretted of course!) I was remarried in June of 2007 and my husband and I have been trying since July of 2007. So this cycle coming up will be 10 months of trying. I just turned 32 and my husband is 31. He has no children so we automatically assumed it could be his count. His SA came back totally fine as did his testerone. My HSG showed nothing wrong and my prolactin and thyroid are fine. I am going to request they do the three day test as told to me above to make sure all my basis' are covered.
Is there anything else I should do?
Dear mommyof3andhopefully4 -
There are limits to the effectiveness and likelihood of success with clomid and IUI together, particularly when your periods are regular anyways. If clomid and IUI together are going to work, it usually takes not more than 3 tries to achieve pregnancy. Thus, if you are not pregnant by the 3rd and/or certainly the 4th round of clomid with IUI together, you and your doctor should consider other options.
As you have three children already, may I ask how long you have been trying to get pregnant again? Was your partner's sperm evaluated? DId you have a hysterosalpingogram (an XRAY that can tell if your fallopian tubes are open)?
I think they are different tests but I might be wrong..so its better to dbl check. Either of the days ...CD 2 or CD3 are fine for LH/FSH tests.
What I know is that A follicle-stimulating hormone test measures the amount of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) in a blood sample. FSH is produced by the pituitary gland and A prolactin test measures the level of the hormone prolactin, which is also made by the pituitary gland, in your blood.
Thats y I said.. it might be worth checking with a medical professional.. Sorry I couldn't help !!!! :(
Hmmmm, She didn't call me back today to tell me when to start my medicine....so I will ask her tomorrow for the three day test....but that will be on Sunday. Maybe I can go to our local lab for that.
My regular OB-GYN did do a blood test to check my prolactin and thyroid. Is that different then the LH and FSH? Th prolactin and thyroid came back normal....thank you!
Then do request for CD3 testing (LH and FSH). That would help you/Dr know if there's an issue with quality/quant of eggs. I was on a borderline(9) at an age of 30 and my RE put me on clomid from CD 5 onwards. If u started on CD3 then thats for increasing the # of eggs. Thats my understanding.
Thats the other thing, they didn't check that....
Did u get ur FSH levels tested? What were ur results?
Yeah, I have 28 day cycles....always. but they had me take the clomid days 3-7. Sounds like I would be a good candidate for the 5-9 day program....I wonder why they aren't doing that for me......Geeez...I am obsessing....
yes i heard that the ovulatory inducers is cumulative so that your ovaries r more stimulated the more u take them specially as u have regular cycles so they will b giving more than 1 mature ovum as to increase your chances of being pregnant, ialso heard alot about girls TTC with inducers for long time but got pregnant &in twins after stopping medication, this is because ovaries r stimulated with drugs even still after stopping them.
Clomid if taken from Day 3 -7 increases ur number of follicles and if taken from Day 5 onwards improves the quality of the eggs. If u O regularly then ur Dr must have put u on Day 5 regime.
