What to expect?

I have my first appt with a Fertility Specialist on August 2nd to see about IVF.  I am 42 and have had 4 losses.  I am researching all sorts of stuff before I go.  Does anybody know if PGD cost extra?  And can you tell me what happens at the firstvisit?  I am 42 and already tried several rounds of Clomid and 1 IUI.  Just found out my husband has male factor infertility.  Will they get us going on IVF right away or will we have to do more testing?

My RE had additional fees for PDG. I don't know if that's typical for all clinics. As for what to expect, we had a 2 hour consultation on my first visit. The doc went over all of our general options based on what we told him and answered all of the questions we had. Then he scheduled a full work up. I had my records from my previous doc but he wanted to run additional tests as well as ensure everything was completely current. I had my tests done two days later and another consult that same week to review results and talk about further options. I went in very overwhelmed but left feeling far more educated on the infertility process.  Good luck to you!

I've not heard of Witz. My insurance doesn't cover ANY fertility treatment so we paid everything out of the pocket. The only advantage was I got a great doctor based on recommendation and didn't have to worry about searching around. Lucky you get coverage!

Advanced Fertility Clinic of Texas off of I-10 and Wilcrest. I see Dr. Krotz but Dr. Allon consults on all patients. They have several offices. Here's the website: http://infertilityanswers.com/

Dr. Krotz was our second attempt at REs as we were not comfortable with the first. I cannot say enough good things about this clinic. EVERYTHING is done in house-- all of my blood work, all of my husband's testing, acupuncture, IUIs, retrievals/transfers, and the surgical procedures I had. No traveling between buildings or offices. The facility is very nice and the staff is amazing. Given all we've been through, I don't think Dr. Krotz could have made it any easier. I highly recommend these two doctors.  I have three friends who have been to this clinic and all have beautiful babies through either IUI or IVF. That's why I went. They were so pleased with the process... and so were we.

The real selling point for me was my husband though.  I had a procedure in March that was going to require us to wait 6-8 weeks before we could start again. Since I'd already had 4 failed IUIs, I told my husband that it was an ideal time to get another opinion because we had 2 months anyway. His exact words were, "No way. I trust Dr. Krotz with your life and I'm not going anywhere else."  Coming from a man who was 100% against treatment when we started, I think that says a LOT.
