I had 5 failed IUI cycles and finally decided to switch RE and try IVF.  We were successful with the 1st cycle.  I first started w/ b/c pills and then began taking Gonal-F, then menopur & ganirelix, and 35 hrs. before retrieval I did HCG (trigger shot).  After retrieval I started taking progesterone in oil shots daily & will continue that until I am about 10-12 weeks.  I also had to take doxycycline (antibiotic) for 5 days after retrieval.  I am also taking a low dose asprin daily and will have to continue that throughout the entire pregnancy.  I ended up finding out my egg quality wasn't the best but we had 8 eggs retrieved and 4 fertilized and we transfered 3 on day 3 since 1 didn't make it.  There were 2 embryos that were 7cells with some fragments and 1 that was 8cell with 0 fragments(pretty sure that is the one that took)  We didn't have any to freeze but I am now 6wk6d pregnant w/ 1 baby!!!  I am so happy we decided to go this route after 4 long tough years.....totally worth every minute!!

I am in the middle of my first IVF cycle now.  I too had several failed IUIs and moved to IVF to increase my chances of getting pregnant.  I am on Follistim daily to stimulate the follicles, just started Ganirelix today to make sure I don't ovulate too soon.  I take a prenatal vitamin and one baby aspirin each day.  Next week after my retrieval I start on progesterone injections and suppositories along with some antibiotics and steroids (not sure what that is for).  After the blood test, if everything worked, they will switch me from progesterone injections to a vaginal gel version instead.

I'll be happy to let you know how the retrieval and transfer go once it's done.

I also did my first IVF after loosing both tubes due ectopic pregnancies and thankfully I got pregnant with twins! I also started with Lupron which is a daily shot, then swith to Bravelle and Menopur which is also a one shot deal at night. Other than that, have been taking baby aspirin since day one and I will take it througout the pregnancy, had to take some antiobiotic, for about 10 days before retrieval, DHEA from beg til retrieval, progesterone and estrogen daily until 10 weeks preg. Had 8 eggs retrieved, 6 fertilized, 3 transferred on day 3...and now I'm 7w4d preg!  It's not easy but it's all worth it!  Take care!

I did my first IVF w/ ICSI in May. At the end of April, when my period started, I was put on birth control. After that, I started Lupron injections. Then I moved on to Bravelle & Menopur. The retrieval itself is not painful, but afterwards, at least for me, it wasn't fun. I slept the entire day. Just expect a lot of discomfort (especially with trying to get up and down), and possible OHSS. Luckily, they retrieved 30 eggs, 23 fertilized w/ ICSI and 2 were transferred on day 5 (which both took. I'm 14 wks w/ twins!) and we froze the rest. Your body goes thru a lot, but it's all worth it. Good luck!

I had 4 failed IUIs before switching to IVF. Thankfully we had success at first attempt. I took Lupron, Gonal F, and Menopur.  I started progesterone injections the day of retrieval and switched to Crinone at 7 weeks.  I also had acupuncture treatment 30 minutes prior to transfer and again immediately after followed by three days of strict bed rest. Retrieved 10 eggs, 9 fertilized with ICSI, 2 transferred on day 5.  We froze 5.
