cervical mucous around menstrual cycle

Has anyone experienced cervical mucous right before their menstrual cycle? Today was the first time this happened to me, and I've been feeling slightly crampy...sore chest....any explanation? I've never experienced cervical mucous before a menstruation...only during ovulation. Just curious if anyone has heard of this? I can't find any information on it. Just seems odd. Thanks all :)

Are u taking anything like vitamins to help boost CM or anything because that could be working because I now think that was my problem. I had lots of CM which I never had before and I thought that was a sign of pregnancy which for some woman it is then AF came this morning, but I know i'm taking cod liver oil to help me with my CM because I didn't get the egg white stuff just the watery one so I started taking that to help me out which is why I may have had so much CM
