false negatives?

I am a 39 year old woman.  I have had 4 healthy children, the youngest is almost 9 years old.  The only form of birth control my husband and I use is condoms, no drugs, no shots, no pills...I have periods every month.  Right now I am 2 weeks late with my period, but have taken 3 pregnancy tests...all negative.  I am nauseous, have heartburn, tired, food aversions, hair loss, and huge boobs!  What's going on??  I did take Excedrin before I realized my cycle was late...any ideas??

guess I should have mentioned we were trying for another baby and stopped using birth control.  I have never missed a period!  Could it be a cruel coincidence that I am perimenapausal just when I am trying to get pregnant??!!

Yeah, I'd agree to take a blood test to make sure.  There could be so many things other than pregnancy to cause symptoms like that.  Stress, annovulatory cycles, ovarian cysts, pre-menopause, etc.  Believe me, I'm 39 also but I'm TTC and I've had several cycles where I felt nauseous, had heartburn, hair loss, tingly boobs, food aversions and a nose like a bloodhound all in one cycle but was never pregnant.

So just get the blood test to ease your mind.  I hope it turns out the way you want.

You could just be having a very late ovulatory cycle OR an annovulatory cycle (no ovulation).  You might want to call your Dr. and have them give you a blood test.
