Sorry you are scared. I have compound heterozygous MTHFR. This means I got it from both parents. I am taking baby aspirin and extra folic acid. No one has told me if this makes it hard to conceive or just a risk of miscarriage - or both.
If you do a search on this forum you may get another point of view. Some people post questions in non-pregnancy forums.
Take care.
I have MThfr as well. I went through IVF as well, we were successful last summer.
The MTHFR does not interefer with conceiving the problem is with miscarraiges because it can cause a fatal blood clot to the baby.
I have my mthfr from one parent. I took a baby aspirin and extra folic acid. Additionally when we completed the IVF that was successful I took an injectable blood thinner called arixtra through the first trimester. Also, I was monitored by a hematologist every couple weeks to make sure my blood didn't get too thick.
Hope this helps. You can email me if you have anymore questions, ***@****
Hope I didn't cause anymore fears for you. This is all so stressful. It is good they know before hand because they can prevent things from happening. The first time I went to the ER for cramping during my pregnancy they were thrilled I knew about it because that meant I could take precautions. Some people have multiple miscarraiges before they discover why they happened. Good luck!
