has anyone felt this way after successful in vitro?

I am officially 6 weeks pregnant after doing in vitro.  (oh, I am 43 and have miscarried before from a natural pregnancy). This should be the most wonderful time in my life and I am terrified.  My symptoms are off and on and when I feel very little I am scared to death that I am no longer pregnant.   I have read in many books and web sites that you are not supposed to show or gain any weight this early and I refuse to get on the scale but my waist is quickly expanding without a doubt.  I am uncomfortable in my biggest jeans that used to fall off of me.  I wish I could fall asleep until my pregancy was in the safe zone (after 12 weeks)!  I just feel weird, not myself and so very scared that this pregnancy will not take.  Has anyone else felt this way?  I feel bloated and cannot beleive I already need to buy bigger clothes.  And my poor husband... my moods are crazy.

I know... this is torture in a way.  I want to be so excited yet I know that I need to be careful and cautious.  During my first pregnancy which was natural I had so many symptoms but I know this is via in vitro and they say every pregnacy is different.

Thanks again to all of you for your kind words and support.  It means a great deal and really helps!

Hi there!  Congratulations!!  I also had to buy bigger pants and I am also 6 weeks pregnant.  I didn't have to wear maternity clothes with my daughter until I was almost 6 months but with this one I had to buy bigger pants already.  Try to do other relaxing things.  Time flies and before you know it you'll start to feel your baby move. Congrats again!

CONGRATS..... I had my my 1st and only IVF with my own eggs and  I am so happy for you. DO you know what the grade of your eggs were. We are going to try donor eggs since I am healthy otherwise. Once again congrats you will be ok.. try to think about other things. GO for a walk with your hubby, spend quality time with him and just do nothing. It will all be good for you both.........

its all completely normal!!! CONGRATS SOOO much on your pregnancy! : )    i said the exact words to my husband.. can you just knock me out and wake me up at the point that i can feel the little one move inside me to have the constant reassurance.. i'm 11 weeks and still every single time i go to the bathroom , still check for blood.. i don't think that feeling will ever go away.. but slowly i'm allowing myself to get more excited about it.. it is hard, after hard times i felt like i had to guard myself, because mentally i cant' take another loss.. ooo also the bloating is totally normal..  i have been the same way.. its mostly your bowels - progesterone causes them to slow down significantly, and anytime your on added progesternoe as well, that causes extra bloat! : ) all normal! HAPPY HEALTHY nine months YEEAA! : )

You're totally not alone in that fear - I went through it too!  As tina said, try to not stress about your weight (easier said than done, I know :-)).  Focus on the positive - you got that BFP & you're 6 weeks and pretty soon you'll do your 1st u/s - congrats! - jen

Everyone feels this way that has suffered a loss. I am the same age as you and have been through several losses and don't get my hopes up any time I see a bfp. I just start holding my breath and waiting.  The fact that your IVF was successful is GREAT!!! The odds are less than 5% to start with (if you used your own eggs). The best thing to do is try your best to relax and take it easy. You are still in a very high risk area for mc and added pressure & stress are not good for you or the baby. Don't worry about weight or anything else now. Taking care of yourself is all that matters :)
