Hello. I used the follistem pen too. I had 225 a day for about a week. Its very easy to use and the needle is small so it doesn't hurt. I was lucky and could mix the follistem in with another shot to save on the sticks per day :-) 2 is much better than 1!! We used the actual pen the first time and while it didn't hurt it left a huge bruise. The vials come in 300, 600, and 900 I think so it just depends on how much you'll need as to which size they give you.

I was in the pen.  The dr will tell u the amount I need and how many days.  Its easy to use.  I was on 75iui for 3 days and the dr had me do an extra day at 150iui.  Each vial has about 300iui in it and my re said actually there's a little more than that in there.  So i only needed the one vial. You just dial the pen to the amount u need. Good luck

Heather5 is correct.  Your doctor will determine how much and how many mg you will need.  I was on the Follistim during my IVF.  They doctor will do ultrasounds to see how the follicles are developing.  Its a very easy medication to administer.  I have just completed my first IVF cylce. And just found out that I am 5 weeks tomorrow.  Best of luck with this journey.  I'll be praying for you..

I haven't personally been on Follistim, but many others on here have. It's one of the most common FSH stimulation meds used in IVF. How many shots depends on your response, and also what type of cycle you're doing. If it's for IVF, they generally want to see as many follicles as possible, but if it is for an IUI cycle, they want fewer follicles because of the risk of multiples...so the dosage and number of days will be adjusted accordingly. I'm sure your doctor will go over all this with you at your next appointment. Best of luck!!!
