I don't blame you a bit!
So you had this NKa all along? Is it something they test you for before going through a IVF cycle? I would think if they didn't test normally before the 2nd cycle, then it would be an automatic thing before starting the 2nd one.
I'm glad you finally got diagnosed w/this - or at least you know what's going on but OMG, I can't believe it's taken going to a new doctor to do it. And furthermore, I can't believe that this new one doesn't monitor w/u/s's and bloodwork. This is ridiculous!
It sounds like there are few regulations in Australia for fertility treatments. I hope your new cycle will go well & that you get some kind of ramification after talking to an attorney - I agree, shame on these doctors! - jen
We are seriously considering it. My new doctor checked me for something called NKa (natural killer cell activation). This causes your immune system to attack the embryo and kill it thinking it is a tumor.
I didn't even have a whisper of a chance on either cycle because this needs treatment and suppression before transfer in order for the embryo to be left alone to grow.
I am so mad and sick about this I can not express it.
I'm in Australia and the new doctor who diagnosed the NK thingy also does not do bloods and scans during the cycle.
I found someone in another city whose nurses were surprised to hear this about no checking of anything during the cycle. I have made an appointment to begin cycle # 3 but for real this time.I feel good knowing it is not a M Mouse industries clinic there.
Thank you for saying what I knew. It's nice to know I'm not upset for nothing.
Hopefully when I am calmer, I will speak to an attorney.I just feel sick knowing the heartbreak I felt finding out I was just robbed and drugged with no hope of success due to incompetence/laziness. I am determined when I am back to my calm self to see to it they don't do this to another 'desperate to have a baby and will submit to anything they say ' woman.Shame on them !
That's horrible - I don't even know what to say about this. I would investigate reporting them to SART (their professional organization) & see if there's any recourse available to you. Maybe you could get your money back. This is so strange.
Hi ,
No they didn't check anything! Not one blood test after the initial screening one before my first cycle.
They didn't even call me with my results of either negative beta. I actually started cycle 2 and was stimming when I called to ask if it was negative of a chemical pg. They had no idea! They never logged my results.I could have had an ectopic or anything,I knew it was negative as AF came to town and it could not have survived that.
Really baaaad. If anyone is shopping for an IVF clinic, e-mail me and I'll say who it was so you can avoid them.
I don't blame you for being upset - I would be too. To be honest, I knew so little about all of the IVF stuff in regards to numbers that the nurses had to continually educate me which was good.
Did they check your progesterone level between the transfer and the pregnancy test (as well as the estrogen one)? I had both tested twice during the 10 day wait.
I just had a 2 large uterine polyps removed by my new RE. They were enormous and should have been detected by 1 st RE. SHe was just a cow and didn't care if I had success or not. She never did uterine thickness monitor .If she did it without my consent or knowing while knocked out for retrieval, that's lazy. What if she found the lining to be not ready? There is absolutely no documentation of any uterine measurements in my records. The new RE has had to start from scrathc with no baseline info.I'm very upset.
The number of u/s your RE makes depends on how fast you respond to the meds. Perhaps your follicles grew really fast and you did not need more than just a few u/s appts. As for the lining, it should be above 7 or so on the day of the transfer. your ob can see your lining when they transfer. Perhaps they just never told you what it was??? With some dr's you have to ask lots of questions to get any info out of them.
I am so sorry about two failed ivf cycles. That is soooo hard emotionally. My heart goes out to you and your dh.
I think you should sue the first doctor cause his work is not professional. I also had 2 ivf failed but i cannot say i'm not happy with my doctor. He was seeing me every 2-3 days and the first thing he does is take blood and chech the hormone level. And also sono. for the thicknes of the lining. Those are the basic tests. Your doctor has been really inprofessional. Good luck with the new one.
