question about miscarriage and infertility.

i have recently had two miscarriages. one in january and i fell pregnant again without having a period and i miscarried again in feb. the doctor said now that i have had two miscarriages i need to see an infertility doctor. can an infertility doctor do anything because i thought they helped women get pregnant that have a hard time. my husband and i want to have a baby although we have decided to wait and start trying after this summer. im just confused. i heard that two miscarriages ecspecially being right in a row can be pretty common. i was soo early in both miscarriaged. could it have maybe just been from pure bad luck both times? im just so scared of finding out there is something wrong and i will never be able to have a baby. the doctor said i may need to do in vitro. is that something i should consider?

It is a good idea to see a specialist. I had two miscarriages and the speicalist was concerned. He ran some blood test which were normal and then did an ultrasound which showed a large cyst on my left ovary and a blocked right tube. I'm glad that he found this out because in my case it was the fluid blocking the tube that was killing the embryo. Good luck

I think he might be worrying you unneccessarily... you are right - two m/c can be very common - especcially if they are very early... he may want you to see a specialist so that you can find out why you miscarried... so that it doesn't happen again. It could be something as simple as low progesterone, etc. AND - there could be nothing wrong, it could just be that both pregnancies had abnormalities... and they just didn't take. Could be a number of things... it might not be a bad idea to see a specialist, they could start by running some of the blood tests... or you can keep trying. They say it takes a normal couple, what is it, a year I think? To conceive... and if it takes longer than that, then that is when you are considered infertile. You can always get a second opinion - and you can ask for tests to find out why you miscarried... they wont' be able to give you a definite answer, but they can run blood tests to check some of the important things. I have been ttc for almost 3 years and have had two early m/c... we still have not yet considered invitro - we've been running tests and I am on Clomid due to low prog, but everyone is different. I'm by no means an expert on this, but if you have any other questions, just ask - I'll try to help! As I said, we've been ttc for almost 3 years and I started out just like you - w/two unexplained miscarraiges. Good luck to you!
