which side did I ovulate from?

The body usually alternates which side it ovulates from right? So if I have a right ovarian cyst from this cycle then that would mean I ovulated from the right side right? so then in 2 cycles it'll be my right side again?

no answers from the u/s, the tech said she didn't see any cysts! So i think maybe an ovarian cyst ruptured already and my discomfort is from the PCS and AF?! the breast cyst i just want to scream about, but at least the dr was able to feel it (so i know i'm not just losing my marbles). Anyways....should I get my labs done this cycle or wait until next in case it was an ovarian cyst (I don't want abnormal results because of that)? I am planning to skip TTC this month.

Oh I see. I'm sorry to hear that. Like there are not enough things to worry about while TTC! Hopefully tomorrow's ultrasounds will give you some answers...

yea it seems that I have both ovarian and a breast cyst. I had been to the clinic in july when I found the breast lump, the PA couldn't feel it but ordered an u/s--which only checked the area that i could feel it (I can only feel it when i'm sitting up (and am very sm busted so there's not much tissue to hide anything)) The dr is able to feel it when i'm lying down and says the "cyst" is in a different location when i'm lying down. I am nervous about that cyst and what will be done about it. I've been blaming the lateral tenderness on my underwire, turns out that's where the dr can feel the "cyst." And yea he thinks I also have an ovarian cyst on my good side, but he said it should've ruptured by now (i had one a year ago, i think it was like 7cm, but it went away on it's own) This time i've had pain for 2 weeks. Hoping to have both u/s done tomorrow. Also hoping AF waits until saturday!

Oh, OK! So he probably wants to check and make sure your estrogen and FSH levels are normal then in the beginning of your cycle and then that your progesterone is elevated in the second part of your cycle (a progesterone level of 10 or higher indicates that you ovulate on your own and is sufficient to sustain a pregnancy).  And the SA is always good to have done anyway...because, there's no reason to do a whole lot of testing or treatments on you if the problem lies with your DH.

However, even if all the test come back normal, and based on your age, chances are they probably will, I would still ask about clomid. The thing is, normally clomid is used to induce ovulation in women who don't ovulate on their own; but even if you do, since you only have one "good" side, you're technically only able to try about 50% of the time.  And since climid can help produce more than one mature follicle, it will help increase your chances of ovulating from your good side.

So do you have both an ovarian cyst and a breast cyst?

Dr ordered blood work on CD 5 and 23. Semen anaylsis for DH. and he was able to feel the breast cyst that couldn't be felt at the clinic or seen on u/s. grrrr. i have to have the u/s repeated.

Nope! Clomid and femara are the lowest-cost and easiest fertility drugs you can take (they're both pills you take once a day for five days). You can actually get clomid at walmart under their low-cost program. I think it''s $9 or something for the generic version, with our without insurance. Femara is a little more expensive, but is sometimes covered under insurance since it is also used to treat breasts cancer.

As for testing, I don't really think that is necessary, but it would be good to have an ultrasound before ovulation to see how many and where your follicles are.

Hope that helps!

You know, if you only have one functional side, you can ask your doctor about trying a fertility medication, like clomid or femara, to help you produce more than one mature follicle. That way, you'll have a higher chance of getting one (or more) follicles on your good side every month. Good luck with your appointment tomorrow.

thanks. I was really hoping there was a pattern since my right side is the only functional side. I see the Dr tomorrow and have an u/s on friday. RLQ pain started mid cycle and continues now (CD 24 of a 26 day cycle) I assume it's a cyst.

I agree with Stillwaiting. It does alternate, but it's totally random. It could be three months in a row from the right, and then two from the left, before going back to the right again...and so on. However, the cyst could be an indication on what side you ovulated from, it just depends on what type of cyst it is. If it is a collapsed follicle (a corpus luteum cyst), then that is the remains from your mature follicle after the egg is released, and if so, then yeah, you ovulated from the right. However, if it is a leftover follicle cysts, it really doesn't have anything to do with what side the mature follicle was developed. But either way, it really doesn't matter...

Best of luck this month!

From what my doctor tells me that is not necessarily true, you release your egg from the side that has the most mature follicle. This can be either side and it can be the same side 2 months in a row. Someone correct me if I am wrong but this is how my RE explained it. HTH.
