Not sure if I have fibromyalgia

I'm 38 years old and for the first time in my life I have health issues that are really effecting my everyday activities. I always felt invincible like I couldnt be stopped and now I do. About a year ago I was having stomach issues and after numerous comprehensive testing they found out I had an enlarged spleen, IBS, GERD, and stomach ulcers. I finally just got that under control and now I am having pain through out my whole body, I'm exhausted all the time, and after I workout I feel like ****. But consquently I had these issues before when I was diagnosed with al my stomach issues. I'm tired of going back and forth to the dr's. It is just my gut feeling that there is something more wrong with me than my dr telling me its the type of work I do, my hours, I'm getting older. I know my own body and I just know there is something wrong. My dr said my fatigue could be from sleep apnea. I went for the tests and they said I have it and now I use a cpap machine. But I dont feel any difference in my energy level since I started using it 2 months ago. So does anyone have a clue if I have fibromyalgia. I know IBS is a symptom of fibromyalgia.

If you don't get a real answer or don't believe a doctor find another one. We all go through several doctors before we get diagnosed. Try Mayo Clinic they will diagnose you correctly and you won't have to keep wondering what it is that you have or if your doctor diagnosed you correctly.

That is what I did and thats how I finally found out it was fibro.

You sound just like me a year ago i was trying to figure it all out myself as well....the thing is ...its hard to pinpoint it my fibro is atypical all over the place so I cant really show the exact tenderpoints its just all over.

Good luck and don't give up find the best doctor ...you only have one life to live ...better to be diagnosed correctly than pop all sorts of pills.

Hi Dorothy,
I'm about the same since we last talked.  I had a bad couple weeks with a really painful muscle.  I think I injured it walking in the deep snow.  It's slowly improving.

Yes you definately need to get test for Lyme.  Ask your doctor if he feels it could be Fibro or possibly Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  I have both.  There are physical test they can do to determine Fibro.  I have the tummy issue as well as reflux.  Before I was diagnosed they were the beginning of my problems.  Then came the headaches and then fatigue.  The body pains were mixed in there somewhere just cant pin-point when they really started.  After spending so much time on over the counter meds and going  back and forth to the doctor I just came out and asked " Do you think this could be Fibromyaglia?"  He didnt think so at first but decided to send me to a specialist anyway to have it checked.  Sure enough, that was it.  Fibro with CFS.  Just talk with your doctor and if he is not open to exploring the possiblity then consult with a doctor that is.  Never throw out any possiblities.

Not sure.  Do you have the tenderpoints?  If you are diagnosed with it I would make sure it isn't lyme disease.  It cause FMS.  FMS is not a disease.  It is a group of symptoms caused by something.  Considering you live in CT, I would get tested for lyme.
