Are my symptoms typical of Fibromyalgia

I December 2007 it started with a painful index finger,as the weeks went on I had pain in my all of my fingers and toes and occassionally my knees and elbows, the soles of my feet start burning and tingling if i walk too far....I was sent to a Rheumatologist and he diagnosed RA on what i consider to be very flimsy evidence all I had was a Positive Rheumatioid Factor Xrays Blood work etc was fine,i was offered Methotrexate which  declined to take as I remain unconvinced that I actually have RA  ..... I a now 5 months down the line and no better and think my GP is going down the wrong track with me I will list my syptoms and would be very grateful if anyone could tell me if they typical of Fibromyalgia as this is what I personally think I have ......

1. Tingling, buzzing and hot sensations in my hands and feet

2. Muscle aches all over,headcahes

3.A feeling like I can only describe as like motors running in my arms and legs

4.Weakness in arms and hands

5.Extreme fatigue

6.Still tired in the mornings even after a full nights sleep

7.Stiffness pretty much all over in the mornings

8.Forgetfulness on accassion

9. Just feeling sore all over like I'd been kicked around

I saw my GP today and he has put me on Pregabalin/Lyrica 75mg 2 x daily I read Online that those were precribed to relieve the symptoms of Fibromyalgia but my GP did not say whether he thought I may have this or not.....

Are my syptoms typical of Fybromyalgia???

Thank You
Daisy

This sounds more like it could be mostly CFS with some fibromyalgia symptoms. However as patsy stated, it is important to rule out autoimmune diseases. I can tell you that 29% of fibromyalgia patients have a positive RA factor result. In addition, 5% of the population has a positive RF, but they are healthy.

Did your physician at least take X-Rays of your hands and feet ?  And did your physician do a blood test to check for inflammation ? I noticed you didn't say you had joint pain... that is very common in rheumatoid arthritis patients.

Many of the symptoms are but they are also symptoms of autoimmune disorders too like RA and others.  RA is a disease which can cause many symptoms.  Fibromyalgia is a syndrome (a group of symptoms) not a disease.  So a fibro diagnosis just tells you that you have a group of symptoms but you still don't have a cause.    Also you should have 11 of the 18 fibro tender points if you have FMS.  Were you checked for these?  If it were me I would consider a second opinion.  Lab work and tests are usually normal in true FMS.  It is possible to have a secondary FMS related to a disease process like RA, MS,  lupus and others
