I have just been called back in to the doctors office. I don't have Fibro, I have Neuropathy. I guess the symptoms can be very similar, however I was diagnosed today with Neuropathy, caused by Hypothyroidism as the main contributor to the disease. He is now doing alot of thyroid test, and autoimmune test. I don't know if one is worse than the other, but I'm a little worried there isn't a forum for Neuropathy. A friend of the family had Neuropathy about 5 years ago, and died about 3 years ago. Not sure what he died of, but has me very concerned. Anyone know anything about this? Can it go away if they treat my thyroid problem?
I get the numbness in my hands, get it on and off had it for years and sometimes in my legs but not that often,in the early days of my fibro it was much worse, uslually after just getting out of bed,but as i keep saying my new TENS machine has helped a lot.Fibro has a lot of weird symtoms,I have generalized fibro so that means i have it everywhere, but not at the same time.Your medications are not the same as we have here so it is hard to compare medications, endone is a morphine based and very addictive,so i have 5mg tablets and i only take a 1/4 just to take the edge of the pain.and murelax for the panic attacks and bad muscle spasms.but i can never remember what i've done or who i have spoken to after i have taken it,there must be something better out there somewhere.
like melo said call and try to get in an urgent appt,,I take Lyrica which is a chemical cousin of Neurontin but Lyrica was made musch stronger and works well for me and a lot others for there nerve pain and burning, numbness, tingling and so on. I hope you get into your doc and get the help you need ASAP.
I have lived with fibro for many years, but was just diagnosed last year after a car wreck. I too have a new ache, which is a burning in my right hip and now it is numb from the upper waist area of the hip to the middle of my thigh, this all happened yesterday. I had a terrible catch in my upper right hip Sunday night and it finally went away. I have absolutely no idea where that came from or what it is associated with. I go to a rheumatologist here at the lake, Dr. Border. She has helped me greatly, but now I can go again with this numbness problem. Anyone have anything they want to input???
There is really nothing that takes paresthesias (abnormal sensations) away. Some people get some relief from, drugs like neurontin. I tried neurontin and it did nothing. These feelings are very disturbing and cause much stress. I know. I have lived with them for 3 years. Hopefully the neurologist can give you some answers.
Sorry your having more problems. I think the best thing to do is call and beg for a quicker appointment with the neurologist. These doctors have quicker appointments that they reserve for urgent needs. It's worth a try. My first symptom of Fibro was that my legs feel asleep but it went away and it's never happened again. Now I have many other symptoms but never felt that again. My cousin has MS and I think her limbs feel numb. Good Luck with everything!
