Might I have Fibro?

I've been having muscle pain, and seems always around joints, random sudden throbs of pain in joints sometimes, but others, just muscle pain that lasts. I'm always tired, hard time sleeping, fibro runs in the family, my aunt and grandmother have it (on my mom's side)  about a year ago, I hurt myself pretty bad, fell and cracked a rib and fractured my breastbone from my ribs, I still get pain from that, but that's when I really started noticing pain in other places as well. Over maybe the past month or two, it's been getting really bad, almost unbearable some days, I just want to cry! It's horrible. Also doesn't help that I have no one to talk to about it, and no health insurance at the moment, so I'm putting off going to see my doctor. Even just standing at the sink washing dishes hurts my back and knees. I'm 24 female, and have two small children, it really is just putting a strain on me, all I want to do when they go to bed or down for a nap is sleep too, getting behind on schoolwork and housework, please if anyone has advice, help! and thank you so much for reading and trying to help

Hi Amy,
So sorry to hear about your situation.  The accident you describe could have set off the fibromyalgia since trauma can do that.  You say that you have no one to talk to.  Why not talk to your aunt or grandmother who also have it?  They should be a tremendous support to you.

With the pain and problems that you are having doing anything, I think it would be worth the money to see a doctor to get the medication that can help you, e.g. Trazadone, Savella or Lyrica.

If you don't have the money, wouldn't someone from your family step in to help you knowing the pain that your Aunt and Grandmother have suffered?  There are other suggestions for you as well, which you can probably find on this site.   One of the suggestions is to exercise very lightly which can help your pain.  Also to try to adjust your activity to be as even as possilbe every day.  That is not to do more when you feel better, which then leads to a far worse day.

And you may need to adjust your scheduled activities for awhile, e.g. wait with school until you have more help with the fibro and maybe more help with your children.  I truly don't understand why you can't talk to anyone in your family about your situation.  Your problems are not your fault.  Are you a single mother?  If so, have you gone after the father for child support?

Again, I am so sorry for you and would like to hear more from you to further help you.

Hey Amy,
Welcome to the forum.
Since you have no insurance, you could consider some of the recommendations I gave to ceels27 at the Autoimmune Community today.
Most will apply to you also. They are either free or low cost .
If you are able to apply some of them, you will definitely feel better.
Fibromyalgia is not really an hereditary disease, since it is a syndrome of symptoms, however, there are components and underlying conditions that have a transfer factor, inherited component or genetic predisposition.
Please take time to search around the forum so you can find out more
about Fibro as in most cases it goes much deeper than just fibromyalgia.
Let me know if you need more explanation with the suggestions, as I gave only a list of them.
Take care,
Niko
