My Doctor said Fibro does not affect the eyes

What do you all think of this statement? I certainly feel like it does.

I wish that physicians would spend more time researching fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome. I think many physicians have just dismissed these illnesses and have done little research. And then when the pharmaceutical companies came up with drugs to help fibro symptoms (not address the cause).. .the physicians felt that this was their answer.. to write another prescription. I've noticed that many of the fibro experts, do not prescribe Lyrica and / or other prescriptions. You can find many fibro or CFS treatment programs on my website (listed in my profile) or on the ImmuneSupport.com website.

If it does not affect the eyes then my eye doctor would not have communicated with my primary care doctor when I told him I had been diagnosed with fibro. This tells me that yes fibro can affect your eyes.

I didn't agree with him when he told me that, I just described how my eyes feel tired and I have a lot of bright flashes that look like tiny fireworks. Also sometimes I have sharp pains that feel like someones poking my eye from the inside. He was sure that Fibro did NOT involve the eye so I needed to see an eye doctor. My vision is fine, i just have some weird annoying things happen. Which to me is in line with all the other Fibro symptoms.

I have dry eyes, blurry vision and on occasion this thing that I can only discribe as a squiggly ameba shape in my perifreal vision that looks like a biolumemescent jelly fish.  My doc says that last thing is a migrain without the headache.

I also have the dry eyes and very rarely.. have the blurred vision.

Apparently vision problems are also common in fibromyalgia patients:

I don't have fibro but I have something chronic, maybe CFS and definitely EBV. I would tell that doctor to look at my eyes for the last five months that I've been having symptoms. My eye doc also confirmed that autoimmune diseases definitely can affect the eyes and he would probably agree with chronic conditions. The guy is pretty sharp, so I believe him.

Have your doctor do some more research. Fibro does cause eye symptoms, such as pain, dryness, and blurred vision. In my own experience, my eyes don't focus evenly sometimes. If I'm reading and have to look up at something distant, one eye has trouble catching up with the other, and it's never the same eye twice.

Above all, fibro affects the Central Nervous System, which means that just about any part of that system can be affected at one time or another.
