Does Acid Reflux Cause Excruciating Pain?

My nephew is in the hospital with excruciating pain in the abdomen.  He had a gastro-bypass about 10 years ago and he has had about 5 episodes over the years of cronic pain, slight vomiting, and skin unbearable to touch.  Each time the episode comes and goes but this time he's in excruitiating pain.  The doctors have done a CAT scan but didn't find anything.  All of his test are negative but I can't believe that he would have this kind of pain from acid reflux.  I mean he's on strong pain killers like morphine and it's not doing anything.  I'm wondering are the doctors missing something?  Has anyone had this type of acid reflux?

Has he passed gas or had a bowel movement in the last twenty-four  hours?

His condition sounds like a bowel obstruction or gall bladder issues. He needs to be in a hospital where he can be observed and had blood tests that can help diagnose what is going on with him.

Hi there,

No, it is definitely not reflux.  It can be a bowel obstruction due to the gastric bypass or a Gallstone stuck or passing somewhere.  But GERD does not cause this severe and sudden onset of pains.

Did they do an ultra sound of his Gallbladder?  but one would think that the CAT scan would be more accurate and pick up on stones or obstructions.  But his pain is NOT normal.

All the best and I am praying that the Docs find a true diagnosis soon.
