GERD Symptoms

Could someone tell me what are the common symptoms for Gerd ? Just want to be sure that what I feel for yeard is that.

I am sure since u r going for surgery, u must have been to a gastro dr and have a dx.

May I ask what surgery u r having done?

Hi, I'm a nutritionist, not a nurse.  However you should know that the symptoms for too much acid in the stomach and the symptoms for too little acid in the stomach are exactly the same.  There is a test that can tell you which you have.  It is called a Heidelberg Gastrogram (google this).  This test is very easy to take and completely accurate.

Here is the symptoms for gerd and I also got Gerd but going to soon be having surgery done for my acid reflux!

• Heartburn, which is an uncomfortable rising, burning sensation behind the breastbone.
  • Regurgitation of gastric acid or stomach contents into the mouth.
  • Difficult and/or painful swallowing.
  • Chest pain.

May I ask what is PCP ?

Hi Jack...I would suggest asking ur PCP to refer u to someone since u already trust him/her....but it will be a Gastro dr.

If u do not have A PCP or do not trust who they would refer, try asking friends that r in ur area.

Hi Jack,
I added the link to our health pages here on MedHelp there is one called WHAT IS ACID REFLUX (GERD)?.You can also click on the update icon on the sidebar.
All of us can tell u how we feel, but everyone is different and I may have symptoms u do not.
Some have heartburn while others do not.
If u have reflux where u have stomach bile move up ur throat or u vomit......it is a good indication.Heartburn is another indicator.I may describe how I feel and u may say no I donot feel like that , when it is the verbage I used.
