Being treated for GERD. I've always skewed warm, but lately I feel cold. What gives?

I'm a 34 year old white male (5'10", 210 lbs).

For the last couple of months I've been dealing with migrating chest discomfort and, especially in the last 2 weeks, consistent heartburn. I've been working with my doctor on these issues and have had a normal EKG, normal cardiac enzyme test, and normal stress test, so she believes the issues are primarily related to heartburn/GERD as well as muscular tightness in my neck/shoulders. They also did tests for autoimmune and tick-borne diseases and those came up normal as well. As of my last appointment a few days ago, I'm on a regimen of ranitidine 2x per day for a month, and I admit, I haven't had heartburn since that began. (I have also been taking probiotics and red yeast rice for the last month or so.)

However, I'm curious/concerned about another issue that she sort of brushed off at my last appointment. I've always been someone who skewed warm (especially when overweight, as I am now), but for the last few weeks I've been feeling much colder than usual. I've had the occasional feeling of "chills" along with teeth chattering (not so much that I can't stop it, but I just get the urge), as well as what I perceive as increased fatigue levels. As mentioned, she kind of ignored my mention of those symptoms as she was focused on other issues, and perhaps it's nothing, but it does strike me as strange and very much a change in my body within the last few weeks.

What sorts of things could cause this? Could it simply be a result of me being anxious about my health for 2 straight months since the symptoms first began (much more anxious than I'd ever been before, given my fear of the chest pain and sudden cardiac events...)? Could it be a result of GERD or muscle tension in some way?

Hi and welcome to the GERD forum.

I wish I had an answer for you, but I just do not know....but I do suggest you ask your Dr again and let her know it is a concern of yours for such a drastic change.....

It could be a nerve is pinched causing this......or it could be something unrelated...and with all the testing you have had recently I would have hoped they would have an idea already.....??? Talk with your Dr again.
