Hi...I also have acid reflux/gerd and IBS issues.....when stressed I too had to run to the bathroom quite often at work and this was not easy for me either.
I do know how stressful a 911 operator position is as my father was superintendent of communications in our city ...prior to 911 he was a fire alarm operator.
It is entirely possible that u r unaware what stress ur body is going thru.
However when removing myself from my stressful work enviroment did not help the IBS issues...I pushed for answers and mine are also related to another condition I have.
Have u been to a NL or NS or even a rhematoid dr? Get some testing done...rule things out. And most important see a GI dr and see if u have IBS..if so the meds can get it under control and ur job will be a more positive one without the fear of how many times will I have to go and will I be able to leave my post.( that is adding to the already stressful job)
Please post an update on ur progress

I don't know. I am currently looking for a specialist to see at Baylor. It is just a bad thing to have when you can't leave your desk every 10 minutes. It definately takes away from my work. I use to think it was my nerves or anexiety but It isn't. I just know there has got to be a way to keep it under control. Has your child been to a specialist that diagnosed her with ibs? I am an EMT also and I'm in medical school too so you would think I could find some answers through myself or my books but none of those really appear to be in the light.
Hi .. I'm not a Dr, but wonder .. do you an acid reflux taste or sour backwash accompanying your symptoms? Is it strictly cramps and the bathroom runs? Not being a Dr., but having a teen with similar symptoms, is it possible you have IBS that is triggered by the stress.
Your job must be stressful ... you are helping people in desperate need every day and no room for error. Wow.
