Retrosternal Pain

Hi everyone....I have a basic question for you but first let me describe my situation.

I have been lightheaded/dizzy off an on for over a week now. I'm noticing that I'm normally lightheaded when I'm eating or drinking something. I've also had pain in the middle of my chest....the direct middle....sometimes moving over to the left but normally right in the middle. When i went to the doctors about this two mondays ago they had me checked for every possible heart condition. Everything came back perfect. They also did a complete abdominal CT scan because I've also been suffering with diarrhea. The CT scan was also clear.

Back to the pain....If the pain in the middle of my chest was due to GERD would I be able to reproduce it by bringing my shoulders forward and flexing my chest? I wouldn't think so but I'm not completely sure.

Thanks in advance for your answers!

I got the word that I was searching for earlier:  costochondritis.

Hi there,

It is good that you've had the CT scan done and that it was normal - that cancels a lot of other possibilities out - for eg. Gallstones.  I don't think that you would be able to reproduce that particular pain, if it was caused by GERD by flexing and moving.  I would think that it can be muscle related?

Have you tried taking anti-inflammatory pain killers?
