When will side effects from Prilosec wear off after stopping the med?

Hello,

I am curious that if my symptoms are "prilosec" related, how soon should they subside after stopping the medication?

I have been on the medication for about 4 months and my symptoms have been diarreah the whole time taking the meds and pvc's (palpitations) for the last two months.  I've already had a full cardio workup too.

Thank you so much.  I can't seem to find anywhere on the internet on when my symptoms should subside after stopping prilosec.  I've been off the medication for 4 days now.

No worries....these meds can cause a problem if stopped to abruptly but that is when u have been on them for a while and on a higher dosage...u can suffer what is called rebound....

I am glad u did not have that issue, and that u also resolved ur other side effects.

I've been off the Prilosec OTC for 1 week now.  I asked my gastroenterologist and he didn't say to ween myself off.  I was taking only 1/2 OTC pill, which is only equivallent to 10 mg omeprazole.  I had to stop because of my palpitations that I have been experiencing, so I did indeed consult my Dr.

I have fibromyalgia (or something like that) that causes burning throughout my body.

Diarreah is now gone, and I am praying that the palps stay away too, they have been great the last two days.

Thanks for your comment Selma

Hi...u really should step off meds like this slowly....

It is very possible that u may have other health issues along with the Gerd/reflux...have u had ur thyroid checked?

Keep in mind it is possible to have rebound effect....so do be careful and talk with ur dr.
