Hi...let me understand, u r losing weight without trying to?.....if u have a bitter taste in ur mouth , it could be u r not eating like u did b4, hence the weight loss.
What modifications to ur diet have u made since being dx'd?....what meds r u on?
Have u elevated the head of ur bed?...stopped eating at least 3 to 4 hrs prior to lying down?....there r many things u can do to help lessen the affects of reflux.
Weight loss will however add to them...or added weight...so, if this is recent weight loss, I wonder if that is playing a part in ur reflux .
May I ask, what has ur GI dr or PCP said?

Selma gives great advice. I'd mention I'd be concerned about the bitter taste in the mouth, watch your tooth enamel and also pay attention to any change in your voice. If you see discoloration in your teeth or note a roughness in your speech, I'd get to the doctor as fast as possible. What medications are you taking? When you take them can be critical. Keep us informed
when i was first diagnosed with acid reflux i weighed 60 kilos. i'm now down to 57 kilos. i did some diet modifications. i don't take soda anymore(i used to drink a lot of carrot/orange juice and have totally stopped since then), no chocolates, chips. i elevate my head when sleeping and wait 2 to 3 hours after my meal before getting to bed. my doctor prescribed pariet and motilium for a week then continued taking pariet for 2 1/2 more months. the bitter taste has lessened i'm just worried about the weight loss
i was diagnosed with the disease in september 2010
thanks . i took pariet for 2 1/2 months. bitter taste improved but worried about the weight loss
Hi...I am not used to the unit of measure u use....but weight loss is weight loss...and any change in weight up or down can affect reflux.
And try to extend ur lying down after eating to 3 to 4 hrs 2 hrs may not be enuff if ur digestive tract is slow.....and it means no lying down watching TV as well....no lying down after eating for a min of 3 to 4 hrs....
U said u elevate ur head...it is not just ur head u need to elevate...and u do need to elevate the head of the bed so u lie on an incline....other wise it is just ur neck that is being protected which really is not much help.....ur digestive acids can still move back up into areas u do not want them....
