My Surgery

I had gallbladder surgery (laproscopic) about 18 days ago and I've had nothing but trouble since.  I crashed an hour after surgery and the rapid response team came in, two days later the same thing happened.  I finally was realeased from the hospital almost a week after the surgery.  I had to go back to the E.R. the following Wednesday because of severe pain in my left side of my stomach (out from my belly button, not the incision).  It felt like I was being stabbed with a sharp knife.  I was told by the treating physician that I had a pocket of fluid around my incision and that it needed to be drained and that I had an infection in my stomach muscles (I had not been given any antibiotics before or after my surgery, even though I was told that my gallbladder was infected), I also have a urinary tract infection.  I started taking the meds and feel some better but last night I ended up in the ER. again for the pain. The doctor told me that it was "normal" and I should see my surgeon.  I don't know what's normal or not but I would appreciate some feedback, the pain is killing me.  Thank you.

Hello,

I had my gallbladder removed but did not have the severity of complications you have had.  If you are still feeling pain (which I did afterwards), I would definitely go back to your GI Doctor and ask them to do an ERCP.  After I had my gallbladder removed, I continued to have pain, and he did an ERCP and ended up putting a small slit in the tube that goes to my pancreas and that helped alleviate the pain (i think it is called a sphincteronomy).  The downside is that this gave me pancreatitis which caused me to be hospitalized for 5 days.
