My daughter has a bm every day or two, but it is always very mushy. This has been the case off and on for her entire life. She has no pain but urgency is such that she often can't get to the toilet on time and even when she does it is so messy that she can't wipe herself clean. Needless to say she ends up with poop in her pants at school.
When I took her to the doctor I was told to cut down on her fruits and juices, but this made no difference. We also tried cutting out dairy and this did not help. Then we took her in for an x-ray and the doctor thought she saw an area in the intestines where stool was being held up so we were told to put her on Miralax. I thought after about three weeks that her stools were looking more well formed so we stopped using it with the doctor's approval. Now it is back to the same mush again, so bad we need diaper wipes to get it off.
Just for additional information she is a normal height and weight for her age. However, she does poorly in school and shows some signs of ADHD though we have not received a formal diagnosis.
What should I do?
