Hi, I'm nearly 62 and 18 months ago had my gallbladder removed after years of I diagnosed pain. Since then I have had bouts of pain under my ribs, both on the left and right, together with pain in my right shoulderblade. For the last two weeks I have had burning abdominal pain, acid reflux and now my stools are yellow. Have an appointment with a gastroenterologist in three weeks but was hoping someone could help me as I'm getting very
Thank you for your help.

Jennie, if you weren't told to follow a low fat diet, begin one. The yellow you're seeing in/on your stool is bile. It's possible it's being released in at times when you don't have food to mix it with and it's irritating your GI tract.

If you don't have any problems with taking calcium, you might consider googling for 'lnape and calcium.' A woman who was having similar issues found the use of a specific form of calcium was able to help 'bind up' the bile and it reduced the discomfort and frequency of the release of bile in her GI tract. Many people seem to use it with decent success.

Make sure the doc evaluates you for 'left-over' gallstones or sludge in the common bile duct. Have them do more than just tell you you've got 'acid-reflux' and hand you some PPI's to try. Yes, you can have acid reflux, but far too many people don't get further evaluation and the problem can be more than just too much acid. Consider asking to have an MRCP done to view the structure status of your biliary tract.
