Amitiza/Lubiprostone

Hello all,
I was given this medication yesterday due to constipation and bloating. I have had this problem for 2 years. Last summer I had intestinal surgery (a foot of small instestine removed) and it has just gotten worse over time.I eat very little and get bloated immediately. Have not gone to the bathroom on my own for 2 years.

I went online and did not like the side effects of this medication or the reports written by real people.  I am hoping that someone on here has taken it and can tell me what they think.  I am mostly concerned about the side effects of chest pain and shortness of breath. As a heart patient, I do not like those side effects. Any advice would be great. Thank you!

Thank you for answering my post. I appreciate that and I am certainly glad that it is working for you. I will keep that in consideration. As I said, I am very nervous to take this pill. I have heart problems so wasn't thrilled with the side effects that I was reading and wanted to hear from others that had taken it. Thank you!

I have been on it for a year I cant go to the bathroom without taking it, but strangely enough only if I take it in the mornings does it seem to work if I take it with evening meals no BM, but if I take it with Breakfast seems to work, no chest pain or ill effects, but have overpowering urge to go but beats weeks of constipation, I praise the difference it has made for me.
