Bright blood in stool

Hello everyone
In January of this year I began to notice a small amount of blood in my stool. It began as small drops in the toilet water every time I had a bowel movement.  I thought it would go away on its own but the problem only became worse.  Over the last couple of months there was more and more blood in the stool as well as the toilet water.  I have always had constipation issues but never any blood.  So these days I notice that when I push to force a stool the blood is a lot more noticeable compared to when I can easily pass a stool. I do not have any other symptoms like pain weakness nausea or anemia.  I am currently waiting for a scheduled colonoscopy in June but am so worried with what could be wrong.  Does any one have an idea of what it could be? ??
