Still nauseos even after gallbladder removal

My 16 year old son has been getting nauseous since July--it gets worse at night and it wakes him up at night it gets so bad.  However, he never vomits.  We've had xrays, enemas, scoping (upper GI), ultrasound, allergy testing, and finally a HIDA scan which showed his gallbladder did not work at all.  He had it removed 5 days ago and the nausea is coming back just like before.  He also was taking a acid reflux pill everyday before the surgery for 2 months which never got rid of the nausea.  We are both so upset and don't know where to go from here.  We thought taking out a non-functioning gallbladder would be the answer.  I just hate seeing him so down and tired all the time from not sleeping due to the nausea.  I want to take him to counceling also--sometimes I think he doesn't help the problem because he gets very nervous and anxious about it.  I DO know there is something wrong--what should I do next?

oh and make sure he drinks as much water as possible with the meds- if they don't make it to the lower intestine- (with plenty of water) there will be stomach upset- even if he has to sip- get him to finish  at least 6 oz of water with meds.
I have dealt with nausea on and off for years and have learned a few tricks.

make sure he is taking all medicine with food even if it says to take it on an empty stomach- like some antibiotics do- and pain pills cause nausea without food and especially after day 3 even if you are taking them as prescribed.  Give it one more week if he can stand it but make sure he eats anything he can tolerate with that medicine- crackers, sherbet, shakes, mac and cheese- he may even change his mind from hour to hour on what he wants- I do that when I am nauseated- You are a good mom to be such a sweet nurse. I would not give 7 up- try chipped ice- SONIC ICE IS best. :-)
