Chronic diarrhea

My wife has had chronic diarrhea since July and has had a minor heart attack due to low potassium. She has also developed a pain in the gall bladder area. Tests so far (upper and lower GI scope, CT scan of abdomen, ultra sound of gall bladder and numerous blood tests) have not been conclusive of anything other than microscopic colitis. She is on a variety of meds but nothing is stopping the diarrhea and she ends up in the hospital every few weeks to receive potassium through IV. We have been to several doctors and no one seems to have any idea on why she is not responding to treatment. She has hyper-thyroidism, has had a history of anemia and fluctuating white counts. Do you have any ideas what else to try?

No diuretics or Lasix. When this all started, she was on synthroid, nexium and imitrex as needed for migraines.

Her medications aremost likely the key and you need to get her to a doctor u trust and bring each and every medicine with you for him to review.  I am a nurse and it is unbelievable the cracks folks can fall through after discharge.  It is important to learn or google every med you take and action, and side effects of each.  Potassium imbalances can cause diarrhea,,,but someting is causing the potassium imbalance...is she on Lasix or a diuretic by any chance?
