Colitis or something else

I went to the doctor yesterday because I thought I had food poisoning which persisted for 24 hrs.  Vomitting, diarrhea and severe cramping.  I was given phenaphin 25 mg. to help with the nausea, but the pain in my left side persists.  I notice if I try to expell gas, I get mucous and in the morning there is blood and clots.  Is this indicative of something else.  I'm trying to do the cultures, but I haven't been able to "go" yet to get the stool.  I'm terrified about the blood and mucous and pain in my side.

Hi vickikar - also do a search on C Diff.  Have you taken antibiotics in the past few months?  Your stool sample will help diagnose if this is what you have too.  Get the sample to the lab quick and "on ice" if you can - it helps ensure more accurate results.  Good luck to you.

Do a search for H Pylori and see if the symptoms are what you are experiencing.  If so, have your doctor order a breath test for it.  It can be cured with antibiotics, but should not be left untreated.  I am not a medical professional, yet have had this for 10 years and no one properly diagnosed it.
