Does Everyone Have Gallstones?

My gallbladder has had pain. I have had scans. They said I had no stones. Now my pancreas hurts. Are these related? I also drank heavy alchohol before these issues. I have read everyone has gallstones. Might I have them regardless of the scan results? Is it just the alchohol causing all of the inflammation?

Thanks for all of your help. The doctors in my area don't seem to be very proactive with this issue. I don't have much confidence in them so I haven't been to one for this issue in a while. It's a hopeless feeling. Maybe I can get them on the right track with this information. Thanks again.

You can ask as many questions as you'd like. If the diet you're following is one to help pancreatitis - low fast - hopefully it will give you a hand with both the gallbladder and the pancreas. But if you've got sludge - very small particles within the bile you produce - you may continue to have problems. The sludge will irritate the common bile duct. If the irritation causes spasms of the duct, pancreatic fluids and the bile can backup and impact the pancreas and the liver.

Be cautious and try to work with your doc to try to figure out what the next step should be.

He had me change my diet. The pain went away in my gallbladder, but the pain continues to return in my pancreas. I couldn't afford the medical costs to keep going back so now I'm trying different amazon remedies to try to fix my pancreas before it goes chronic. I hope it's not too late. At one point they wanted to remove my gallbladder. Considering the pain is gone now, but I have this issue I'm unsure whether I should have done so to avoid pancreatitis. I don't think I'm supposed to ask anymore questions in the same forum, but if I got an opinion on this, it would help me to have some closure on this thread.

You don't have to have stones to have gallbadder issues. Ask if the scans showed any presence of a thickened wall of the gallbladder or the presence of sludge. Both of those issues can cause pain similar to having gallstones. The gallbladder can also have spasms of the ducts which can cause similar problems.

Many times when the gallbladder has issues, the pancreas can also experience problems so it can be difficult to know whether the alcohol or the gallbladder is the causative factor.

You need to work closely with your doc to try to get to what the actual cause is. Make sure your pancreatic and liver enzyme levels are checked and the condition is followed up.
