GERD symptoms?

I was told that I have a high amount of acid "rolling around" when I went and had an acid reflex test done and so am now on prescription Protonix--but I still seem to go through periods (every 2-3 weeks) of tightness in my chest and the feeling that my heart is beating really fast (and sometimes it is and sometimes it just feels like it) and this feeling like I have a lot of pressure in my head.  So frustrated because I don't know if it IS in my head or if this is still GERD symptoms.  Any thoughts?

Thanks for the comment; I will make sure to talk to my doctor about these things when I go in next month :-)  The last time I talked to him was about the constant bloating that I feel or this feeling that my upper intestinal area feels like it's going to burst--he said it was because I do not have a gall bladder anymore and that I need to take Miralax and lots of water...so will bring this other stuff up this time.
Thanks again!

Iowa, it's not in your head. Many people with GERD find they experience the same sensations. Check with your doc to see if you need to change your medication or alter the dosage. In addition, you may want to make changes to your diet and lifestyle if you haven't already done so. You can find a representative example of a GERD-friendly diet at www.gicare.com under the diet category.

Tightness in the area of the chest could suggest esophageal spasms. Be sure to discuss this with your doc. And in some, the PPIs can cause changes in heart beat rate. Bring this up, too.
