Help! I had an ileus and still have problems...What can I do?

I looked up the correct spelling of the problem I had. It is an ileus..a bowel obstruction..which caused a GI shutdown and stomach pain, constipation, weight gain, cramping, and poor quality of life. I told my situation in my previous entry. I truely need help. If anyone has any suggestions...I am going to be seeing a new Family Physician in 2 weeks and need direction.

Thank you for your information.
The answer is yes. I have had 5 abdominal surgeries over the past 17 years; 1 with my second child, gall bladder removal, nissan fundoplication, tubal ligation, and last year a complete hysterectomy. The ileus developed after the hysterectomy surgery. My GI system has not been the same since. I have seen several doctos and have not even been given the time of day, I cannot get any of them to answer my questions regarding the GI issues I am experiencing. I then began to try to do some of my own research.  I read on the internet information regarding IBS and thought maybe this was it, but the information you gave me will definitely give me some questions to ask the new Family Physician I am seeing in 2 weeks. Thank you again so much for the information.

Have you had any previous surgeries?  A friend of mine was just diagnosed with an ileus a few weeks ago.  They did surgery on her last week and found that there were adhesions (scar tissue) all around her intestines causing the blockage.  She had the adhesions removed and is recovering well now.
