Hemangiomas are reportedly present at birth and aren't noticed until they're seen when tests are done for something else.
OK. A gastroenterologist I consulted told me that a problem might occur only if the lesions get bigger and rupture. So I should get an ultrasound of my whole abdomen done every year or so. How frequently should I monitor the lesions?
The person to check with on this would be your doc. In many cases the hemangiomas don't grow bigger, in others they may.
The term hemangioma is incorrect and what you are talking about is a vascular malformation. Hemangiomas are present at birth and will go away on their own within several years. Vascular malformations should be treated if they are causing problems, so you need to see your doctor to find out what treatment will work best for you.
OK. It is not causing any problems as of now.
