I hope that the next droctor you see is a Gastroenterologist.  In the meantime, remember, no dairy.  And if your sure you haven't been tested for Celiac yet, you should also try to avoid all gluten until you see the doctor.  Then you can tell him that you've avoided both these foods and what happened.  It will help him make a diagnosis if you have not yet been tested for Celiac.  Even if you have, lots of people have your symptoms who eat dairy.  So, even if you were tested for Celiac and your tests came up negative, I'd still avoid the dairy.  Good luck sweet heart.

Don't ACTUALLY tell your doctor I said that.  Or she'll get mad at you.  It's just that they always say that about teenagers.  They even said it about me and it wasn't my problem.  Please make sure your tested for this.  And in the meantime, get off all the dairy.  And try eating grains that are gluten free (look on the web for a complete list) like millet, brown rice, and quinoa (pronounced Keen-Wha).  And if your parents and/or doctor insist on you seeing a psychiatrist, go ahead and do it.  I'm sure they won't make you get therapy every week.  But they may have you go on an antidepressant.  And you never know, it just MIGHT help.  It won't hurt.  I'll check back tomorrow night to see if you have any more questions.  In the meantime, keep your chin up.  The answer is out there.  You just have to find it.  And you will.  God bless....

Your doctor is an idiot!  Tell her that I said that she wouldn't say that if you were a 33 year old coming to her with the same symptoms.  Every time a teen ager has a bowel problem they chack it up to nerves.  My advice would be to be tested for celiac sprue.  Right away.  I don't know how they test for it.  I'm not a doctor.  But you can probably find out info right here at Medhelp.  Go the the Celiac Sprue forum.  At the top your see things you can check out about the disease.  In the meantime, you might want to stop all dairy products.  All of them.  Drink soy milk instead of regular milk.  You'll like "Silk" brand.  See if that helps.  If it helps, but not enough, try cutting out all gluten foods.  You can buy breads that have no gluten in them at The Whole Foods Market.  Do you have a Whole Foods Market near you?

No they haven't tested me for that, but dairy does not bother me.
my doctor ran a lot of other tests but she has always thought
it was "in my head" or "I'm making it up for attention".

There are so many things it could be.  Have they tested you for Celiac Sprue?  That is a gluten allergy.  People often have symptoms like yours.  People with this disease can't eat gluten and are also lactose intelorant.  Have you been tested for lactose intolerance?

O.k. The reason I asked if you had EVER taken an antibiotic was because antibiotics can upset the balance of good bacteria and bad bacteria in your gut.  And tradtional dr don't often know about things like that.  Only holistic ones.  So, if your sure you haven't taken any antibitotics for a sinus infection, acne, flu, vaginal yeast infection, etc, we'll proceed with another thought.  Also, what do mean it gets worse when you eat?  What happens sweet heart?

Hi, I'm a nutritionist.  I'm not a dr.  But I know all too well what it's like to have digestive problems that are severe and that no one can figure out.  I went through that for years.  And my problems started at the very same age as yours.  Don't worry, you can and will get better.  It's just going to take a little time.  But you will.  You said that your pain in is your lower intestines.  That means that it is not in your stomach, right?  But down lower.  Do you get gas?  I'll check back and talk to you again after you answer those questions.
